Camilla Chance, ManyBooks.net Author of the Day, August 5, 2020

CLEVELAND & BYRON BAY, Australia - Aug. 5, 2020 - Camilla Chance is ManyBooks.net's author of the day for August 5, 2020. Her young adult, literary, fantasy novel, Melissa & Kasho is featured. In addition to her presence on the front page of the site, Camilla is featured in an extensive interview on their daily newsletter.

Melissa & Kasho is Camilla Chance's foray into young adult literature. Although set in 1959, the story resonates as it delves into serious matters such as sexual assault, attempted suicide, bullying, and a young girl's development into womanhood. Set in 1959, the book delves into fantasy and the paranormal with the character of Kasho. He is the spirit of an Indigenous man who lives light-years away, but who has traveled to Florence in ghostly form to aid Melissa in her spiritual, social, and emotional transition into a free and independent woman. The underlying message of the book is "there is always a way of making your life better."

She is the first non-Aboriginal to win the Aboriginal People's Unsung Hero award for her work "behind the scenes" for the betterment of all Indigenous people. Currently, she is working on Warrumyea: The Left-Handed Woman, her memoir, and companion work to Wisdom Man.
