ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - July 21, 2020 - In addition to heading the Center for Functional Learning and creating new titles in the Musical Adventures of Grace series, Ken is the current President of the Association of Family Practice PAs and NPs. The organization is the national membership association for these healthcare professionals, giving them access to networking and professional development to advance their careers. He'll bring their perspective as frontline healthcare workers in the pandemic to the interview.
The Raise the Line podcast interview is Thursday, July 23 at 1:00 pm Eastern Time. An initiative of the health platform Osmosis, Raise the Line debuted in late April and specifically focuses on what doctors and other healthcare professionals are learning about the COVID-19 crisis and how they are applying it to preparations for future crises. In its first three months, Raise the Line has featured nearly 40 interviews with healthcare professionals nationwide. Its audience has grown to more than 1.6 million listeners worldwide. Raise the Line is hosted by Osmosis Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rishi Desai and Osmosis Co-Founder and CEO Shiv Gaglani. The two have extensive experience in creating clear and effective explainer videos on medical and healthcare topics, and they have brought this expertise over to their video and audio podcast format.
In his work hosting Raise the Line, Dr. Desai has focused on the role that health education plays in patient care, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The fit couldn't be better for Ken and the Center for Functional Learning with a focus on health literacy for emerging readers. Ken plans to talk about his new title Grace Fights COVID-19, which was the first COVID-19 book published in the Chicago area and was featured recently on WGN.
"Health literacy is crucial to effective pediatric and adult patient care," Ken says, "and laying the foundation for lifelong health literacy begins in childhood. Grace Fights COVID-19 is an age-appropriate, kid-friendly resource explaining what's going on in the pandemic and how children can contribute to staying safe and healthy."
