GOLDEN, Colo. - July 19, 2020 - "The overall design will remain the same but we have added a few additional design elements which we believe is more representative of our mission," states Mark Miller, President of the Foundation. Miller explained that the original logo design will remain the same with the "MC-1 FOUNDATION" featuring the red/yellow "C" as found on the Colorado state flag. The updated design, however, will now include a background of three colored lines: red, white, and blue.
"The thin red line will represent our support for firefighters, the white for EMS, and the blue for police," states Miller. "We have always been here for all Colorado first responders but only recently we raised funds for a local firefighter. We realized that our current branding was geared more toward law enforcement and we needed to make a change. So, we incorporated those three thin lines to show our support for all first responders."
According to Julie Powell, a volunteer with the Foundation, "another element of the brand makeover is the addition of the words "FOR THE SURVIVORS" to the logo. We believe this more accurately describes WHO we are here to support – either those who have been injured or the survivors of those killed. These 'survivors' have significant financial needs that are often unmet by public or department support. Our goal is to focus on these survivors' needs."
The new logo will be rolled out in the near future across the Foundation's website, social media platforms, and other marketing materials.
About the MC-1 Foundation:
The MC-1 Foundation was started as the MC-1 Honor Run, a fundraiser motorcycle ride for the family of Sgt. Dave Baldwin of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (E.O.W. 1/26/14). Sergeant Baldwin, whose radio call sign was MC-1, was killed in the line of duty after being struck on his motorcycle by a wrong-way driver. Since that event, the MC-1 Foundation, which is a 100% volunteer organization, has grown to become a tax-exempt organization under Section 503(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (#47-5206410).
The mission of the Foundation is to provide financial support to public service employees and/or their families in the event that they are hurt or killed while on duty providing service for their communities. In 2019 alone, the Foundation offered assistance to a number of public services employees/families with a total of over $50,000 being donated to those families.
