July 17, 2020 - Barberitos, an award-winning fast-casual Southwestern Grille and Cantina with 50 locations across the Southeast, is excited to announce its newest location in Abingdon, Va. Opening on July 13, the chain offers farm-fresh food for customers seeking a healthy and flavorful quick-service option for lunch and dinner.
Located at 101 Cook St., this will be the second unit for franchisees Chris Bartee, David Cox and Spencer Bowman. This location will feature a personalized mural that includes elements unique to the town, such as Abingdon’s Barter Theatre, The Creeper Trail, Whitetop Mountain and the Martha Washington Inn, among other embedded details.
Guests will be able to eat in the dining room for the grand opening. Barberitos’ dedicated team of experts remains in close contact with state and local government officials and is monitoring the latest information from the FDA and CDC to help make informed decisions. The Barberitos team will take proactive steps, such as thorough cleaning of hard surfaces and frequent sanitation of high-traffic areas, as well as reconfiguring its dining rooms to create more space between tables. For the guest’s convenience, Barberitos will continue offering delivery, take out and curbside pick-up.
To celebrate Barberitos’ 20th anniversary in 2020, the chain is holding a drawing for customers during the Abingdon location’s grand-opening week to receive FREE Barberitos for a year (52 meal vouchers that include an entree and a drink), t-shirts and other prizes. In addition, Pepe - the chain’s mascot - will be at the grand-opening celebration along with a prize wheel and other giveaways.
“I am thrilled to serve Barbs’ farm-fresh food to the Abingdon community,” said Cox. “We are so thankful to be expanding to Abingdon and want to give back to not only Abingdon but all of Washington County and the surrounding communities."
The restaurant’s menu items are prepared and cooked in-house daily, including hand-smashed guacamole, home-made salsas and fresh-cut vegetables, as well as chicken, steak, pork, turkey, tofu, rice and beans.
“I am thrilled that Chris, David and Spencer are expanding their relationship with the Barberitos family,” said Barberitos Founder & CEO Downing Barber. “They have shown an innate ability to make a difference in the community, and I can’t wait to see what they will do in Abingdon serving our fresh, healthy food and first-class customer service.”
