SAN JOSE, Calif. - July 6, 2020 - PRIDE Museum nonprofit organization enthusiastically carried out the Mask Me Network project from April through July, 2020, in response to the country's appeal for sewn face masks that need to be worn by the general public.
PRIDE Museum took aim and distributed masks in underserved communities and reached those individuals who need masks to continue providing essential services and are in direct exposure to the virus while we all adhere to "Shelter In Place" orders.
A deliberate focus was placed on serving the elderly who received the masks through social distancing methods by local churches and neighborhood associations.
With adherence to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines for 3-Layered cloth mask production, the organization's Board of Directors calculated the project and fundraised to purchase sewing supplies that amounted to: FABRIC = 189 yards; THREAD = 27,000 yards; ELASTIC = 600 yards; ROUND SHOELACES = 400 pair. The sewing labor was generously donated and USPS was selected as the preferred distribution service.
PRIDE Museum masks are working to protect people in 55 Cities and 13 States.
