Biotech Support Group presented 2 posters at the ASMS 2020 Virtual Conference on Mass Spectrometry

MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J. - June 13, 2020 - MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ, June 12, 2020 -- Biotech Support Group presented two posters at the ASMS 2020 Reboot, which became a virtual conference due to the pandemic. The posters were:

1)Targeted LC-MS Proteomic Methods to Monitor and Quantify Stromal Conditioning in Cancer from Blood (https://www.biotechsupportgroup.com/v/vspfiles/templates/257/pdf/ASMS-2020-Stroma-Biomarker-Poster.pdf)

Matt Kuruc1; Swapan Roy1; Wilma Mesker2; Rob Tollenaar2; 1Biotech Support Group LLC, Monmouth Junction, NJ; 2Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, Netherlands

Brief description: Commercial enthusiasm continues for the prospects of measuring cancer non-invasively through liquid biopsy biomarkers. However, current biomarkers only serve to report tumor burden, which is not the full picture of progressive disease. The other largely neglected part of tumors, comes from the cooperation of the normal host response to acquired inflammation at the primary site. This stromal conditioning assists the tumor ecosystem and affects resistance to treatment and final outcomes. The innate immune system cooperates in this response, and we now report proteomic methods to monitor that influence from blood. With these methods, we aim to characterize and quantify Stroma Liquid Biopsy™ biomarkers in patient sera, to correlate to Tumor-Stroma Ratio scoring methods developed at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC).

2)Dried blood spots for detection of autologous blood doping with targeted LC-MS/MS (https://www.biotechsupportgroup.com/v/vspfiles/templates/...)

Matt Kuruc1; Swapan Roy1; Johan Jakobsson2; Raik Wagner2; Christer Malm2; 1Biotech Support Group (BSG) LLC, Monmouth Junction, NJ; 2Pro Test Diagnostics AB (PTD), Umeå, Sweden

Brief description: Dried blood spots (DBS) provide a cost effective transport and archival method for monitoring of changes in the red blood cell (RBC) proteome due to disease or ex vivo storage, such as cryopreservation used for autologous blood doping (ABD). PTD has developed proprietary peptides for detection of ABD. We assessed the detectability of selected peptides with DBS as archival method.

"These two posters highlight the value of collaborative partners jointly working to commercialize new biomarkers using novel proteomic sample prep products and methods. It is very exciting to share these developments with a dedicated group at the forefront of mass spectrometry research", states Dr. Swapan Roy, Ph.D., President and Founder of Biotech Support Group.
