As Republican National Committee (RNC) delegates for the 2020 convention are being elected across the country something interesting happened in Maryland's Republican Primary. Republicans of Frederick County Maryland elected, an Orthodox Jewish woman who is also Black as a delegate for President Donald Trump. Frederick County, Maryland is a western county approximately and hour from both DC and Baltimore.
On Tuesday, June 2, Marie Fischer was elected as a Trump delegate to the 2020 RNC convention garnering 20,313 votes as of time of this writing. Ms. Fischer is currently the 3rd Vice President of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women, the President of the Republican Club of Frederick County, a member of Project 21 as well as a member of #JEXIT. In May of 2019, she received the Diana Waterman Republican Woman of the year for 2018 from the Maryland Republican Party.
"I was so excited when earlier this year I was asked to be a delegate and to have my name on the ballot. I consider it an honor since the state party entrusted me as well as the Trump campaign." said Ms. Fischer. "I am so thrilled to go to the convention, I never thought, as a little girl watching the convention on TV, that I would one day be there, G-d willing."
The RNC Convention is currently scheduled to take place August 24th through the 27th but the location is currently being determined.
