Masters Hall of Fame Announces Michelle Manu As The 2021 Grandmaster of Ceremonies

COSTA MESA, Calif. - May 31, 2020 - Dr. Daniel Hect, Chairman, and CEO of the Masters Hall of Fame announced Kumu Michelle Manu as the Grandmaster of Ceremonies at the 2021 MHOF Banquet to be held Saturday, August 14, 2021.

"Michelle Manu is one of the true traditional martial arts leaders of this era, and she has dedicated her life promoting the Hawaiian martial art of Lua. I cannot think of anyone more qualified to be the 2021 Grandmaster of Ceremonies," said Grandmaster German Hernandez Vice President, Masters Hall of Fame Chairman.

Kumu Manu holds a 10th Black Belt in the ancient Hawaiian Combat Art, Lua, and is the only woman accepted as a disciple and earned the title of teacher (Kumu) under the late Grand Master ('Olohe) Solomon Kaihewalu. Michelle is also the only woman, to be given the designation of "Knight Commander" of the Royal Order of Kamehameha for her continued work in promoting, protecting, and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture through the Lua.

"As an organization, the Masters Hall of Fame understands it has a responsibility to develop excellence in the martial arts; and to recognize martial artists who embrace life as other exceptional martial artists have done in the past. We believe that Kumu Michelle Manu fully embodies the essence of a true martial artist," said Dr. Daniel Hect.

Kumu Michelle Manu will join Soke David Dye at the 2021 Masters Hall of Fame as the Keynote Speaker and Grandmaster of Ceremonies.

"I am truly honored to join Sensei Dye at the Masters Hall of Fame event in 2021. I have worked with Daniel and David on other Masters Hall of Fame projects; however, be featured the 2021 Masters Hall of Fame is just great" said Kumu Michelle Manu.
