About A Stranger Among Us
Think Looking For Alaska by John Green, but without the romance and set in a small, Appalachian town in West Virginia.
Though they come from different backgrounds, Mike and Daniel bond over a love of video games, fast cars, and reckless adventure. Both of their lives will be changed forever when Daniel's father, a former motorcycling bad-boy, passes away, leaving behind an inheritance and a complicated legacy. Drag races, hostage situations, river parties, bonfires, new friends, a looming economic crisis, and prescription drugs all complicate the transition between adolescence and adulthood. Caught between their fathers and the men they hope to become, Mike and Daniel must quickly learn to navigate a grown-up world filled with moral ambiguity.
Reviews:
"This is one hell of a ride. The emotional drag race that this book took me on was just astounding. I couldn't put it down. I *MAY* have done that "just one more chapter" thing and stayed up way too late finishing it." - Colleen W
