SAN ANTONIO - May 8, 2020 - As the global COVID-19 pandemic causes dangerous shortages of critical medical equipment, many companies have pivoted to provide quick, lifesaving solutions.
One such company is Kaspar Wire Works, a South Texas business that manufactures a range of custom wire and metal products for industries ranging from food service to construction, aerospace, recreation, and beyond.
Now, the manufacturer is shifting gears to design and manufacture essential medical equipment in short supply during the pandemic. This includes culture tube racks, test tube holders, IV holder/IV poles, emergency relief cots, and ventilator baskets.
The Kaspar sales team reached out to medical and health organizations across the nation to understand how they could serve the needs of hospitals and clinics by manufacturing medical tools and supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. After identifying hospitals' greatest needs, Kaspar partnered with Pryor Products, an industry-leading manufacturer of IV stands, rolling carts, clamps, and mobile medical equipment, to bid and manufacture ventilator baskets for the COVID-19 effort.
"We listened, strategized, and employed lean processes to develop solutions in our effort to help U.S. hospitals fight coronavirus," said Gerald Tempton, Kaspar's Chief Administrative Officer. "I'm so proud of our team for working together with our partners at Pryor to step up and do the right thing, which is to help the American people in this time of crisis. We continue to look for ways to serve the needs of U.S. companies at any scale with our God-given talents and resources."
The partnership between Pryor and Kaspar Wire Works allowed two U.S-based companies to join forces to supply hospitals with ventilator baskets. Kaspar is currently working to fulfill a purchase order of 100,000 ventilator baskets, with the capacity to manufacture and produce just over 5,000 baskets per week.
"We have a long history manufacturing medical and lab supplies along with our other wire and other custom metal products and have the know-how and capacity to turn around a range of medical products to fight COVID-19," Tempton said. "We're ready for your requests for custom, made-to-order solutions."
