Conscious House Launches #MasksForMadagascar Emergency Campaign with SEED Madagascar

SHOREDITCH, U.K. - April 28, 2020 - Conscious House London, the 100% natural skincare and toiletries brand striving for zero waste and plastic free alternatives, today announced the official launch of its support for NGO SEED Madagascar's #MasksForMadagascar campaign. SEED Madagascar is a sustainable development charity working primarily in the southeast of Madagascar. The campaign aims at fundraising to provide cloth masks for key workers and vulnerable people in Madagascar, and is currently hosted on the Conscious House London website.

Conscious House London, the waste-free lifestyle brand founded by Nicolle Barreiros and Rebecca Dallimore, is a long-time partner of SEED, with 10% of the brand's profits going to SEED Madagascar and Mind, the mental health charity in England and Wales. The new #MasksForMadagascar appeal now aims at giving extra support to SEED during the Covid-19 global pandemic.

As part of its community preparedness initiative, SEED has embarked on a mask-making mission to provide key workers, vulnerable people and the organisation's staff with CDC recommended (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting...) cloth masks to help prevent the spread as much as possible. Distributing masks increases the chance of significantly reducing community transmission of coronavirus, with the cost of each mask just £1. This cost covers materials, labour costs at 2.5 times the minimum wage, and the distribution costs of a single mask.

"As COVID-19 makes its brutal way across the world, even countries with the most sophisticated healthcare systems and resilient populations are suffering" says Rebecca Dallimore, co-founder of Conscious House London. "When a disease like coronavirus makes its way to the African continent, disaster truly strikes, impacting millions of people who often do not have access to basic sanitation facilities for washing their hands, nevermind healthcare services".

#MasksForMadagascar is therefore simply asking for donations of either £1 (to fund one mask being made and distributed in Madagascar), or for people with sewing skills to make and post masks to Conscious House London. To help raise awareness of the campaign and add some extra support, Conscious House London added a special £1 #MasksforMadagascar product page to the online store where people can add it to their order like a donation.

Donations to the #MasksForMadagascar campaign with SEED Madagascar can be done through the Conscious House London website here (https://www.conscioushouselondon.com/product-page/masksfo...).
