BOSTON - April 6, 2020 - United Planet, a service-learning and intercultural exchange non-profit organization, is launching new virtual internships and volunteer opportunities for high school, university or graduate students, as well as working professionals and retirees. Called Virtual Quest, the new program is United Planet's response to the global pandemic and is ideal for interns and volunteers who want to gain international work or volunteer experience and build cross-cultural skills and knowledge online from the safety and comfort of their homes.
"At United Planet, we see an urgent need to change the traditional notion of internships and volunteering in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are using the Internet to its full advantage to connect people around the world," said Dave Santulli, President and Founder of United Planet.
Virtual Quest internships connect interns to partner organizations that, together with United Planet, help them fully engage with a new culture and forge strong relationships in a new, unfamiliar environment. Virtual Quest volunteer opportunities connect volunteers to communities where they make a relevant and meaningful difference through projects in health, children and education, and environmental sustainability.
The Virtual Quest include a broad range of opportunities such as: teaching and mentoring, research and project management, grant writing, communications, marketing, social media and content management, fundraising, finance and accounting, technical support, and more.
United Planet supports Virtual Quest volunteers and interns with personalized support in project selection, training and supervision, and success plans and presentations.
This new virtual offering compliments a virtual exchange program that United Planet launched last year. Called Virtual Chapters, this 8-week online program connects schools around the world using innovative technologies.
