openEQUELLA 2020.1, a digital repository, released

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - March 10, 2020 - The Apereo Foundation today announced the release of openEQUELLA 2020.1, the latest version of the open source platform.

openEQUELLA, a digital repository for housing teaching/learning, research, media, and library content in one platform, is currently in use at a wide range of schools, universities, colleges, TAFEs, departments of education, government agencies, and corporations worldwide.

openEQUELLA 2020.1's primary focus is dependency upgrades. These upgrades aim to create a more secure application, bringing together the efforts of various open source communities as they improve their libraries that openEQUELLA leverages. 2020.1 also introduces a general LTI approach for presentation layer applications to integrate with openEQUELLA via the LTI 1.1 standard to select and view openEQUELLA content. This general LTI approach can now be leveraged as the older 'building block' approach to the openEQUELLA / Blackboard integration is phased out. The concluding phase in the enhanced integration is the REST flows, which will be released as a patch release in the near future.

Other highlights of openEQUELLA 2020.1 include:
Capability to protect various in-app API documentation end points
Enhanced Cloud Provider abilities through proxies
Enhanced accessibility
Bug fixes
Version 2020.1 is available now. For more information about implementing or upgrading to openEQUELLA 2020.1, please navigate to openEQUELLA.github.io or contact a services provider in your region, including Edalex (Asia Pacific), Unicon (Americas), and Next Education Services (EMEA).
