MORRISTOWN, N.J. - March 7, 2020 - The Time is Now: A Call to Uncommon Courage by Sister Joan Chittister, OSB, will be the topic of the book discussion led by Peg and Bob Pipchick and presented by Voice of the Faithful New Jersey on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 3:30 PM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 100 Harter Road, Morristown, NJ.
In this, her latest work, Sister Joan, a fervent advocate for social justice and personal faith and spiritual fulfillment, draws on the wisdom of ancient and modern prophets to confront the oppressive forces active in society today. Combining scriptural insights and wisdom stories, she offers to readers a design to combat complacency and create a world of justice, freedom, peace and empowerment.
Sister Joan Chittister, OSB, is an internationally known writer and lecturer and the executive director of Benetvision, a resource and research center for contemporary spirituality in Erie, Pennsylvania. A Benedictine Sister of Erie, she served as president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, president of the Conference of American Benedictine Prioresses, and was prioress of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie for twelve years.
Sister Joan received her doctorate in speech communications theory from Pennsylvania State University. She has received numerous awards for her work on behalf of peace and women in church and society.
