ATHENS, Ohio - March 4, 2020 - The Ohio University Women's Center will present a highly anticipated annual art exhibit that globally celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, as well as to work towards equality in areas that are still inequitable. This exhibit will feature diverse mediums and artists. The exhibit will be shown from 10:00am- 7:00pm on the 13th day of April in Baker Ballroom located at 1 Park Pl., Athens, OH 45701. Among the other work shown at this exhibition, Naked: The Nude Body Empowerment Project by Jen Hernandez will be shown in its entirety for the first time as a complete installation.
"We are excited to showcase "Naked" as part of our 2020 International Women's Art Exhibition," said MaryKathyrine Tran, M.S., Assistant Director of Women's Center. Jen has participated in both of the annual International Women's Exhibits held at Ohio University. Tran was happy to extend an invitation to Hernandez to show this groundbreaking nude exhibit for body image and empowerment first.
"Through this project I hope to show that beauty can come from everyone as we all have similar struggles. I want to show that all things have a 'soul' and help people come to terms with their personal body hangups and share their 'bareness' with the world. All bodies and people have a beauty that can show through without faces, names, and sexual connotations."
