LAS VEGAS - Feb. 25, 2020 - NAAFA's Board of Directors is pleased to introduce the NAAFA Webinar Series 2020. These webinars will be FREE OF CHARGE, an educational service to not only our members and the fat acceptance community, but to the world. All interested parties are welcome to join us. Of course we are always happy to accept donations to help support the efforts of NAAFA to realize Equality at Every Size. These webinars will occur periodically throughout the year.
The first in our series of presentations will be Fat Positive Event Planning for Beginners on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 4:00 PST, 7:00PM EST. Host Tigress Osborn, NAAFA Director of Community Outreach will lead the conversation with Redstreak Girl and Fat Girls Hiking Phoenix Chapter live from Palabras Bookstore in Phoenix Arizona. The webinar is co-sponsored by PHX Fat Force.
Redstreak Girl, aka Nicholet Deschine Parkhurst is Standing Rock Sioux and Navajo. Currently, Nicholet is a doctoral student in the Justice & Social Inquiry program at Arizona State University. She has earned a Master of Public Policy and Masters of Social Work. She is also owner and content creator of RedstreakGirl.com, a lifestyle and plus-size fashion blog. Nicolet started Redstreak Girl to increase the positive representation of Native Americans in social media. She is a co-founder of PHX Fat Force.
Amy Rios-Richardson, Phoenix chapter ambassador for Fat Girls Hiking, is a queer, Brown, feminist originally from Southern California. She moved to the Phoenix area with her wife and their two dogs in 2018. A recovering social worker, Amy is currently back in school working towards a certificate in Deaf Studies. She hopes to become an interpreter and work in deaf education. Amy has been the Phoenix chapter ambassador for Fat Girls Hiking since December 2019. AIong with hiking, Amy also enjoys cooking, watching sports, traveling, and kayaking.
