VISALIA, Calif. - Feb. 20, 2020 - San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC), a family-owned career college with programs in the medical, business, technical and trade fields, has selected Barbara Holt as the new director of the Atascadero campus.
A long-time Atascadero resident, Holt has served in a variety of positions within education for the past 15 years. She played an important role in establishing the Atascadero campus, which offers programs in Clinical Medical Assisting, Medical Office Administration and Business Office Administration.
"I am excited to be in this new role with SJVC Atascadero," said Holt. "I look forward to working with our students and meeting the needs of employers in the community."
Atascadero is SJVC's 15th campus and offers three accelerated, nine-month medical and business programs that provide hands-on training focused on the skills employers demand. The campus is located between San Luis Obispo and Templeton, within close proximity to several hospitals and a variety of medical and business offices within a 20-mile radius of the college. It is just north of SJVC's latest campus in Santa Maria (https://www.sjvc.edu/campuses/central-california/santa-maria), which began enrolling students in December 2019.
"Barbara's passion for student success has been demonstrated through her tremendous work in helping students find employment opportunities," said Campus President of SJVC Atascadero, Alyssa Perry. "I look forward to the positive impact she'll have on the entirety of the student experience in her new role," added Perry.
Holt received an undergraduate and master's degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She and her husband have two children and have been a part of the Atascadero community for more than 23 years.
