CHARLESTON, S.C. - Feb. 11, 2020 - Teleios Research has previously shown that being a Christian, and especially practicing Christianity, improves personal wellbeing. Accordingly, Teleios has begun an innovative program to teach those desiring to learn more about Christianity in a one-on-one Bible study, by phone or phone app, with a mentor trained in the scriptures, or a seminary student. The initial commitment is a 4-week, one-hour session with the mentor studying Ephesians 1 as well as Bible study techniques.

To date, 40 students have participated in the study; 29 have completed 4 weeks and 7 have continued all the way to 6 months. There have been 27 (67%) located outside the United States, most commonly in Africa (n=8) or Asia (n=7).

Students complete surveys prior to their first Bible study session, and then again at 4 weeks and 6 months. On initial analysis, a substantial improvement in self-scored wellbeing resulted as the Bible study progressed: presurvey, 4.4 (n=40); 4 weeks, 4.9 (n=28); and 6 months 5.2 (n=4, scale 0-6, with 6 being best wellbeing).

In summary, the Bible study program sponsored by Teleios provides a weekly session with the mentor over at least 4 weeks studying Ephesians and Bible study methods. The program has included students worldwide and has shown an initial marked improvement in personal wellbeing.

More research is needed to determine the exact impact of this program in the student's lives and their knowledge of scripture.
