The Thailand Yacht Show 2020 at Royal Phuket Marina was a resounding success

MUANG, Thailand - Feb. 2, 2020 - The 5th edition of the Thailand Yacht Show – one of the largest boat shows in Asia – was held at Royal Phuket Marina from the 9th to the 12th of January, 2020. Potential boat and yacht buyers from around the globe attended the four-day festivities at the award-winning marina. This year's event had record numbers of attendees and boat sales, making it the most successful show to date.

Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana was welcomed by Royal Phuket Marina Chairman, Mr Gulu Lalvani, and Thailand Yacht Show CEO, Mr Andy Treadwell, on January 9th, 2020. The Governor then gave an introductory speech to kick off the event.

As Thailand's premier in-water boating event, all the major players in pleasure yachting were in attendance. Visitors had access to over 50 yachts and were given the opportunity to meet with local brokers. A wide range of boats and yachts were on display – from smaller boats made for day sailing to a large six-cabin ultra-luxury yacht.

Apart from marine brokers, property developers, luxury car dealers, bespoke travel operators, and specialists from the hospitality and food & beverage industries displayed their products during the event. The lifestyle exhibition showcased high-end luxury car brands like BMW and Porsche as well as exclusive waterfront properties and leading jewelry brands.

The event was a resounding success, as brokers received many inquiries and sold several products during the show. This all fits perfectly with Mr Lalvani's vision to make Royal Phuket Marina a top international lifestyle destination.

The Thailand Yacht Show provides the region's yachting community and nautical lifestyle enthusiasts from around the world with a unique opportunity to view some of the world's most iconic yacht brands at Thailand's premier waterfront destination – Royal Phuket Marina. The show welcomed visitors from India, China, Russia, Europe, the USA, and many other countries, demonstrating Phuket's importance on the global stage. Many Indian attendees took advantage of Thailand's 0% tax on the purchase of yachts and bought boats during the show.

The best-in-class facilities created by Royal Phuket Marina Chairman, Mr Gulu Lalvani, played a key role in the success of Thailand's yacht industry.

Royal Phuket Marina can hold over 296 boats of up to 35 meters in length and is equipped with wet berths, hardstands, and covered premium dry stack boat storage spaces. It is also home to boutique shopping, fine dining, the largest exhibition hall on the island, distinguished luxury waterfront condominiums, and the only villas in Thailand to each come with their own private boat berth. The marina's central location in Phuket allows for easy access to more than 30 islands and the pristine waters, fresh air, and untouched natural wonders of the region have firmly etched Phuket on the international yachting map.

Royal Phuket Marina is the proud holder of the International Clean Marina Award as well as the prestigious 5 Gold Anchor Award bestowed by the British Yacht Harbour Association – the first and only marina and Thailand to receive these distinctions. It has truly emerged as one of Asia's most sophisticated high-tech yachting havens.

The Thailand Yacht Show greatly increased the number of quality tourists visiting Phuket. This generated important employment opportunities for the residents of Phuket, and was a boon to both the regional and national economies.
