The Junior League of San Antonio Announces Second Cohort of Paving New Paths Trailblazers

SAN ANTONIO - Jan. 27, 2020 - The Junior League of San Antonio is pleased to announce it has selected 17 esteemed Paving New Paths Trailblazers. These community leaders and JLSA leaders alike, have committed to raising $5,000 each to fund the Junior League of San Antonio Centennial Signature Project and Renovation grant. To raise a total of $95,000 in the next 60 days. This fundraiser officially kicks off its 2nd year on January 27, 2020 and ends April 3, 2020.

The participating Paving New Paths Trailblazers are Lorena Peña, Rodney Gray, Colin Fuller & Ryann McAnelly (HS student team), Vanessa Martinez Campos, Steffany Malach, Jan Schroller, Beatrice Briseno-Carreon, Joy McGaugh, Gilbert Gonzalez, Nadine Wolfe, Sadie Schweers, Gloria Dela Garza-Rankin, Nancy Guido, Ty Chumbley, Marissa Spencer, Melissa Cornelius-Freyre & Christian Reed-Ogba. To add to our excitement 2 anonymous donors have already pledged to donate $5,000 each to kick-off the campaign

"We are thrilled to be walking alongside Clarity Child Guidance Center as we help pave new paths to children's mental wellness.'' says Yvonne Addison, President of the Junior League of San Antonio, "On behalf of all the members of the Junior League of San Antonio and children across South Texas, I want to say a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all our past and future Trailblazers ...like you! What an incredible gift and legacy you are leaving for the children of our community! We are so grateful for the support of so many people from so many sectors of our city."

At the end of the campaign, each one of these Trailblazers will pass the torch to his or her successor, who will commit to raising $5,000 for the 2021 campaign next year. This cycle will continue for another 3 years, culminating to a goal of $500,000 raised by our Centennial celebration in 2024.

Clarity Child Guidance Center in partnership with the League's all-women volunteers, experts and physicians from Clarity will help the League's members will develop a training program to help teach and inform the community, through the League's partnerships with other nonprofits, within our own membership, and beyond, about how children and families can maintain mental health and support mental wellness. The Signature Project will specifically target children in 1st through 3rd grades, teaching them directly about how they can keep themselves mentally well.

Clarity Child Guidance Center exists to transform the lives of children and families. We are the only nonprofit treatment center in San Antonio and South Texas that specializes in children ages 3-17 who suffer from serious mental health problems. Our inpatient and outpatient programs include a range of services, from crisis stabilization to psychiatric evaluations, to ongoing therapy. We have the region's largest staff of children's mental health professionals at our two, family friendly campuses and several satellite locations. As a United Way agency, we provide greatly needed mental health care for children who could not otherwise afford to receive treatment.
