The need to uphold the equal rights, voices and influence of girls in our families, communities and nations is important and urgent. National girl child day promotes the importance of a girl child in the society and empower them as well as draw attention of all stake holders about gender discrimination, crimes and inequality towards girls.
National Girl Child Day is celebrated across India on January 24 every year for promoting the importance of girls in our societies. The day came into existence in 2008 after being initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This day aims to spread awareness on issues faced by girls in the country and gender equality. The fifth anniversary of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme also is observed during Jan 20-26 this year.

On 24 Jan 2020 JMA Pilani organized a colorful function to celebrate National Girl Child Day. Highlighting the status of the girl child, Class 9 student Yeshasvi and Bhoomika from Class 6 gave a brilliant speech in Hindi and English respectively. Devyani Class 9 rendered a soul searching poem about the girl child. Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan shared significance of the day and led teachers along with students from Class 1 Junior to Class 12 accompanied by school Girls Band for a rally across Pilani town.
