January 22, 2020 - Kim E. Forrester, CPA/CGMA, Member, Levine, Jacobs & Company, LLC., an award winning accounting firm, was featured as a guest on the Wise Women @ Work podcast where she discussed ‘under the radar’ tips to prepare for tax season.
During the interview with host, Felicia Garland, Kim emphasized the importance of keeping and maintaining records for your taxes, especially with the ever-changing tax laws. She emphasized the fact that, “For the State of New Jersey, your medical expenses only need to exceed 2% of your adjusted gross income.” Kim also recommended summarizing these statements, and stated, “While you may not get a benefit on the federal taxes, you may get a benefit from the State of New Jersey.”
Kim also discussed her own career journey to becoming a certified public accountant, offering important insights into networking and how to distinguish yourself from the competition. When it came to acquiring success in the accounting industry, Kim advised, “You need to ask questions and dig deep to understand the clients’ business needs.”
