Award winning 14 year old actress just announced to host the 54th Variety Telethon Feb 9th

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Jan. 16, 2020 - Award winning Actress, Filmmaker, Artist, Novel writer and GenZ influencer, 14-yr-old Esabella Strickland has recently had the honour of being asked to host and perform segment interviewer for the 54th Annual Variety Show of Hearts Telethon, supporting the cause that has been so good to her and a recipient of the 2019 Variety Red Heart Award. She is a young, raw talent who is a champion against child illiteracy and learning disabilites and acts as an empowering figure against Bullying through her art.

But it wasn't always this way. From a young age Esabella was diagnosed with Dyslexia, ADHD and Anxiety, which not only impacted her learning, but inhibited her interactions. She was socially alienated and bullied because she learned differently in Public School. It wasn't until Esabella was awarded a grant from Variety Children's Charity to attend Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School (KGMS) – an Alternative high school program for students with learning differences and specific learning challenges – that Esabella suddenly took flight.

In 2018 Esabella wrote, co-directed and starred in the film, My Red Ball (2018). The film handles themes of bullying, written through Esabella's own experiences with it, and went on to become a film fest favourite and winner.

Esabella was also the youngest speaker and Adobe Insider to attend the 2019 Adobe Summit in Las Vegas. Many were impressed by her empathy, compassion and insight.

Esabella's goal is to have girls feel more empowered through empathy. She has also just finished her first Young Adult novel, Then and There, Here and Where written with her father, which will be published the summer 2020.

Esabella has worked hard to train herself with techniques she uses to deal with both her anxiety, and dyslexia. Through this process she's discovered what she calls her two superpowers, memorizing and a higher level of sensitivity toward others, including the characters she played in many local indie short films. She has also trained herself with mindfulness and grounding techniques to cope with anxiety – something she hopes to pass on to those she works with.

Esabella is also a artist who is a painter and sells her artwork at a local arts and crafts store and is presently doing private orders of Painted Pockets on Jeans of which 10% goes to her favourite charities.
