LAKE MARY, Fla. - Dec. 30, 2019 - Just Our Soldiers' Helpers (JOSH), a morale-boosting organization for U.S. service members deployed to combat zones, announced today it has shipped a record-breaking 2,650 care packages in 2019. This achievement would not have been possible without the immense support it receives from local companies, organizations, donors, and volunteers.
JOSH ships high-quality care packages to U.S. service members, in all branches of the military, to boost morale while they are forward-deployed to remote locations with limited access to post or base exchanges. In 2018 JOSH was able to ship 1545 care packages. This year's 71% increase is due to higher funding levels raised, in a large part, by their first annual gala and other sponsoring organizations.
"We are deeply humbled by the compassion that people show our deployed service members through their support of our mission," says JOSH Founder Kathy Hewitt. "Being able to increase the number of soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen we can support means a great deal to me personally and to our dedicated group of volunteers. We hope to continue this growth trend through 2020."
To date JOSH has shipped over 104,000 pounds of high-quality food/snacks and hygiene items. That's more than the weight of a modern passenger jet airliner. This year's gala is scheduled for March 7, 2020. Details are available on the JOSH website and Facebook page.
