READING, Mass. - Dec. 14, 2019 - Congressional Candidate Jamie Zahlaway Belsito attended the North Shore Labor Council held it's 16th Annual Women's Solidarity Breakfast "Forging Pathways" in Lynn.
The bilingual breakfast was a moving event with a positive message. The rallying cry could be heard all over the room: Women United Will Never be Defeated // Mujeres Unidas Jamás Serán Vencidas.
During the breakfast, women spoke about the daily challenges the Hispanic and Latino communities face when it comes to our broken immigration system. "As a mother and small business owner the message is loud and clear: women and workers prosper when all are given support, all are paid equally and our immigration system function," stated Jamie Zahlaway Belsito."
In gateway cities such as Lynn, Salem and Peabody, the threat and reality of ICE raids make the thriving immigrant communities fearful. School-aged children fear they might not see their parents by day's end. Families are separated, individuals aren't able to find sustainable employment, trade unions have worker shortages, and employees need access to skill development. Belsito has 15+ years of immigration expertise which she will bring to the district.
"My vision is to immediately address our broken and overburdened immigration system - there are better pathways for people seeking entrance into America to become productive and engaged members of society. We can work together with vetted third-party contractors, non-governmental organizations and pro bono attorneys to process and swiftly adjudicate individuals that are currently in detention centers, at the border and waiting abroad to join family members. Utilizing cutting edge technology that this country prides itself on, we can begin to create a consistent approach with biometric data upon entrance into this country, allowing legal and compliant entry." Jamie Zahlaway Belsito is running for the Massachusetts 6th Congressional seat and is facing three male challengers including the current Congressman. "Our communities need effective and efficient action to preserve current jobs, increase the job force, reinforce technical schools and provide essential stability, now. As your congresswoman, my vision is to immediately address these issues."
For two decades, Jamie Zahlaway Belsito https://belsitoforcongress.com/ has been working at the state and national level to create legislative policies that affect women's health, immigration, and public education funding. The Primary Election is September 1, 2020.
