PARK CITY, Utah - Nov. 13, 2019 - Numerous studies have been conducted exploring the benefits of the human-animal bond and highlighting the positive impact that pets have on our mental and physical health. After all, there's a reason sixty-seven percent of U.S. households own a pet, according to the APPA's National Pet Owners Survey. Pets provide us with fun, joy and unconditional love daily, and for people struggling with depression, anxiety or stress; these qualities can be a mood-boosting power that can transform lives.
As the CEO Puppy Mama, and a decorated Iraq-War veteran, Theresa Piasta has taken her love for dogs to the next level by creating a how-to guide for doodle parents. Her recently launched book, "Raising a Doodle: Heartwarming Stories from Dog Parents Around the World," is a celebration and demonstration on how dogs are changing lives for people everywhere.
In "Raising a Doodle", readers will find dog expert interviews from specialists in canine therapy, grooming, veterinary, and training fields, along with practical tips, tricks, how-tos, and advice. But most important are the 100+ stories (and adorable full color photos) of entertaining and heartwarming examples of how real women's dogs have changed their lives for the better– through serious physical and mental illness and real hairy heroism.
Theresa knows firsthand the power of pet ownership. As a former Army Captain who spent 14-months deployed in Iraq; she returned home and immediately transitioned to a Wall Street Sales and Trading position, ultimately becoming the V.P. at J.P Morgan. Theresa decided to turn her attention to her health, which included a new puppy named Waffles who dramatically changed her life and inspired her to take on a project that has grown into a tech start-up and lifestyle brand, Puppy Mama.
Since Theresa shared her story, over a thousand women have submitted their own healing stories to Puppy Mama. The numerous heartwarming story submissions of poodle-mix breeds inspired "Raising a Doodle", which Theresa wrote with her Wellesley College classmate, Audrey Courchesne.
