HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Nov. 6, 2019 - Legendary Jazz Saxophonist and international touring artist, Azar Lawrence, is set to appear for an exclusive interview and live performance at the Grammy Museum on November 6,2019.
This special engagement follows his successful European tour with appearances at festivals in Austria and other parts of Europe.
As a jazz saxophonist, Azar Lawrence began his journey in jazz performing at jazz workshops provided at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. His improvisational skill on saxophone was spotted by Elvin Jones who asked him to join his jazz ensemble traveling to perform in New York City. Azar became known as an exceptional jazz saxophonist on the East Coast which soon led to an invitation by McCoy Tyner to join his jazz quartet. A seasoned jazz saxophonist, Azar performed on Tyner's major album releases such as Enlightenment and Atlantis to name a few. Azar's solo career came into fruition through creative recording sessions that led to the release of his signature jazz projects such as the recently reissued Bridge into The New Age, Summer Solstice, and People Moving.
Azar's 2018 album, Elementals, soared to the #2 position on the Jazz Weekly charts. Concord Records reissued the highly acclaimed Bridge into The New Age in November of 2017.
As a jazz innovator, Azar Lawrence is respected and followed by other notable artists including Kamasi Washington.
On Nov 15th, the official reissue of Azar Lawrence' Summer Solstice will be released on High Definition Vinyl, CD as well as digital formats. Azar Lawrence is scheduled to make his special engagement appearance at the Grammy Museum at L.A. Live on November 6th.
