Well for starters, the Nova 5T is sporting a slightly smaller 6.26-inch Full HD+ screen with IPS technology – there’s no OLED screen over here. Next is the fingerprint sensor located at the side, and not under the display.

It is also covered with aluminium frame and with glass at the front and the back of it.

The most prominent upgrade the Nova 5T has is on its performance side of things. Here we find the Kirin 980 chipset, fast octa-core processor, great graphics and a whopping 8GB RAM under the hood of this fantastic smartphone. There won’t be anything that can slow this beast down, that’s for sure.

The 48MP quad-camera makes a comeback, and it is very similar to the ones found on its predecessor. It can capture stunning high-definition, ultra-wide-angle, macro and bokeh photography. The cameras also create next-level videos with vibrant, clear images and videos from vast landscapes to breathtaking close-ups. Powerful photo/video algorithms help you get colourful, high-resolution photos and videos anytime and anywhere.

The 32MP selfie camera also makes a return, which uses AI technology to highlight your unique natural beauty and individual characteristics to bring out the best you. 4-in-1 pixel fusion creates brighter, more explicit selfies and AI tech balances exposure and backlight while optimising backgrounds.

In terms of storage, the Nova 5T comes with 128GB of internal storage. Take note that there’s no expansion slot though, should you need a quick upgrade. Guess you will have to go through the cloud for a fix on this matter.

Battery-wise, the 3750 mAh has enough juice to power up the smartphone for a day or two in between charging. When the time comes to charge it, it only takes 24 minutes to get it up to 50% battery capacity. Not bad at all.

Conclusion:

Huawei Nova 5T is an upgrade for those looking for a beast of a smartphone, with the quad-camera which promises a great photo-taking adventure. The price is slightly higher than its predecessor, but it all adds up in the end.

Huawei Nova 5T is currently available for 699 New Zealand Dollar or ~445 USD price tag. Three colours for you to choose from, namely Black, Crush Blue and Midsummer Purple.
