SYLMAR, Calif. - Oct. 17, 2019 - Children's Hunger Fund (CHF) was notified late Thursday evening that the Saddle Ridge Fire was moving towards their building after the fire broke out near the CHF Sylmar headquarters.
Upon returning to the property on Friday, it was apparent that the flames had scorched the entire surrounding areas leaving only the building structures intact. "We have much to be thankful for," said Dave Phillips, Founder and President.
Our sincere thanks go to the first responders for their heroic work in protecting all of the commercial and residential structures on our street.
CHF is grateful for the many prayers of protection for our distribution center, filled with food ready to feed suffering children, and for our new exhibit, Poverty Encounter, that opened to the public only one year ago.
Smoke restoration crews are working to restore the building so that we can continue to do the work of serving children and families in need locally and globally. Poverty Encounter tours for schools and the public will reconvene as soon as we have the all clear from the restoration professionals.

About Children's Hunger Fund
Founded by Dave Phillips in 1991, Children's Hunger Fund has served the needs of children through gospel-centered mercy ministry for more than twenty-six years. Since 1991, 96% of all donations have directly supported programs that serve suffering children and families. The charity has distribution centers in San Antonio, Dallas, and at its headquarters in Los Angeles. At each center, bulk food is packed by volunteers into "Food Paks" (a 20-pound box of nutritious food). Food Paks are distributed to millions of children and families in need throughout the U.S. and worldwide through a unique process, utilizing a Mercy Network of pastors and local churches who deliver the Food Paks into the homes of families in each region that is served.
