FitMind Launches New Meditation App Dubbed 'CrossFit For The Mind'

DENVER - Oct. 10, 2019 - FitMind, a mental fitness tech startup, has launched a new meditation app. In an industry characterized by "McMindfulness" and woo-woo claims, the FitMind app stands out as a secular and scientific meditation training program.

The app, which is currently available on iOS, is the brainchild of former venture capitalist and Yale graduate Liam McClintock, who left his career in finance to study meditation full-time in Asia. His team at FitMind consulted neuroscientists, psychologists and monks in creating an app that takes users from beginner to advanced techniques and explains how each method rewires the brain for presence, focus and energy.

Similar to CrossFit, the FitMind app starts with a foundational program that progresses in difficulty and intensity. Users also complete daily challenges to integrate their practice into everyday life and can ask questions in the app.

"In a world of instant gratification and distraction, we need to start training our minds just the same as our physical bodies," said McClintock. "I am excited to introduce a systematic meditation program for beginner and advanced meditators alike." Pointing to recent scientific research demonstrating that meditation can create significant changes in the brain's structure and function, the FitMind team believes that "mental fitness" is the next major health revolution.
