WHAT: 3rd Annual ChildPromise Inc. Gala will raise funds for services that support foster children and youth. Allentown-based ChildPromise Inc. supports and encourages current and former foster children to pursue higher education or a trade. With the support of donors, volunteers and community partners, ChildPromise, Inc. is striving to make a difference by raising funds for higher education scholarships and credentialing opportunities for foster youth.
The following awards will be presented for lifetime achievement and leadership in support of foster advocacy:
· The 2019 Kenneth and Irene Campbell Lifetime Achievement Award to Christos and Cheryl Christakis
· The 2019 Estelle B. Richman Leadership Award to Kutztown University and Dr. Kenneth Hawkinson, President of Kutztown University
The Gala's keynote speaker is screenwriter, poet, lecturer, best-selling author, child advocate public speaker and former foster youth, Antwone Fisher. Dr. Mike Cirigliano, medical contributor for Good Day Philadelphia on Fox29, serves as event emcee. Additionally, recently featured on The Steve Harvey Show, Duranice Pace of the Anointed Pace Sisters, will provide the evening's musical entertainment.
The Gala also supports Share the Care, an organizational program that supplies care packages and additional support for college students who have aged out of the foster care system. To date, participating colleges include Lafayette College, Kutztown University, West Chester University, Chestnut Hill College, and the Community College of Philadelphia.
