GREENVILLE, Pa. - Oct. 1, 2019 - Thiel College has launched its latest new program for the 2019-2020 academic year—a bachelor's degree in public policy.
Associate Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Department of Political Science Marie Courtemanche, Ph. D., developed a program for Thiel (https://www.thiel.edu/) that provides students opportunities to study across disciplines.
"The political science department is excited to be offering this new major in collaboration with a number of other departments on campus. Students will learn how to influence governmental actions while focusing on a particular concentration, like environmental science or health systems, helping them land careers in areas in which they are passionate," Courtemanche said.
The public policy program will prepare students to solve problems in fields ranging from crime and health care to education, as well as many others. Skills developed from an array of fields are useful within government agencies, non-government organizations and philanthropic entities.
"A number of students have already expressed interest and we are happy to provide them with something that will assist them with their future career goals," Courtemanche said.
Thiel College offers more than 60 majors and minors including the newly launched undergraduate program in environmental safety management and graduate program in speech-language pathology.
