SPRING HILL, Fla. - Sept. 4, 2019 - Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School will be welcoming acclaimed author Roslyn Franken, as part of their Distinguished Speakers Program at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Ms. Franken will recount the story of her latest book, Meant To Be: A True Story of Might, Miracles and Triumph of the Human Spirit, about how her parents survived their captivity continents apart during WWII in the most extraordinary of circumstances and were brought together, against all odds, to rebuild their lives as one based on love, trust and commitment. As two young teenagers, Roslyn's mother survived the concentration camps of Nazi Europe while her father survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb as a Prisoner of War in Japan.
This story of history and humanity will teach our students important lessons about hope, love and strength of the human spirit in overcoming adversity that young people need to hear now more than ever.
Her book, Meant To Be, is being made into a movie.
