DURHAM, N.C. - Aug. 24, 2019 - The Reverend Jonathan Augustine presents another #SocialJusticeSunday at St. Joseph AME Church, on August 25, 2019. The theme is "Jobs, Justice and Education" in commemoration of the upcoming 56th anniversary of the March on Washington. In keeping with the theme, Rev. Augustine will recognize and honor organizations who made contributions during the era of the March on Washington of 1963. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., (Senator Harris is a member), Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., The NAACP-Durham chapter and the A. Phillip Randolph Institute of Durham,
Special guests will be Dr. Pascal Mumbenga, Superintendent of Durham Public Schools, and Senator Kamala Harris, 2020 Presidential candidate. Senator Harris will be speaking from the pulpit during the #SocialJusticeSunday event.

About St. Joseph AME: The congregation was formed in 1869, brought together by meetings in a "brush arbor" organized by Edian Markham, a former slave and AME missionary. The church is celebrating 150 years of service and fellowship in the City of Durham. Reverend Jonathan Augustine is its 31st pastor.
