MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Aug. 14, 2019 -12:00 PM CST. P. MOSES filed a complaint in the Shelby County Chancery Court. In her Petition for Injunctive Relief against the Shelby County Election Commission and the State of Tennessee, she seeks to have her name placed on the ballot or the election postponed.

Moses is the first black woman of a low-socioeconomic status to seek public office in the mayor's race. The complaint alleges racial & gender discrimination by the all-male commission. She declares, "This was a strategic political attempt to keep me off the ballot because of systemic racism and classism. I intend to dismantle the entire electoral procedural system in TN. If we can remove symbolic statues out public parks, why can't we remove racist statutes that legally infringe on our Constitutional rights to be free from tyranny and control? These unconstitutional statutes violate my right to hold public office and no one has ever properly challenged the statutes and that's why I will not give up on justice. My grandmother said, ``If you don't like the laws you change them."

Moses believes the time has come to reconstruct new public policy & legislation & that begins in the courtroom. She intends to continue her campaign by running a race for the people and insist that residents write-in her name on the ballot regardless of the court decision to show the election commission they cannot steal democracy. She believes many of the citizens will not vote if they don't see her name on the ballot in the mayor race.

Moses declares, "I will not be discouraged by local politricks & I intend to use the law to obtain justice & the ballot box to free my people. This system of institutionalized racism and denial of rights to an entire group of people must be reviewed. There are over 150,000 convicted felons in Memphis who have no voice and without proper representation, they will be enslaved to a system which benefits from the misdeeds of confederate legislation from the 1800s.
