Windows Server 2008
Compared with previous Windows Server editions, the functions of built-in disk management in Windows Server 2008 have more progress: extending and shrinking partition are very great example. This is available that you can expand partition with unallocated space right behind it or shrink partition to create an unallocated space. However, it is not perfect, for it can not move partition, which makes it difficult to extend system volume.
AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite Edition
Consequently, you have to resort to some third party software, but most of which are not free. I know a partition freeware and it is compatible with many Windows Server Operating System-AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite Edition. Let me tell you how to use it to move partition.
Step1: Download and install the software, then launch it, main console at a glance, and right click partition D and select “Move Partition”.
Step:2 Then you can drag the slider rightward to move partition D in the Pop-up window and click “OK”.
Step3: After clicking “OK”, you will see the unallocated space has been moved before partition D. Now click “Apply” in the toolbar to proceed the upcoming operations.
