Windows Server 2003
If your operating system is Windows Server 2003, I am sorry to tell you a bad news that there is no functions of extending and shrinking volume with built-in disk management of Windows Server 2003. However, when system volume (usually C drive) is in low space, which makes your machine run slowly or even crash, what do you do?
Partition Assistant
In this case, you have to ask for partition tool. I have used a freeware- AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite Edition, feeling that it is great. Now, let me tell you how to use it.
Steps:
1 Install AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite Edition and launch it, in the main interface right click on D drive and select "Resize Partition".
2 Drag the slider bar leftward or set the particular size on your own in the box below to shrink partition D like in the screenshot, then click "OK".
3 Click "Apply" on the tool bar to save your changes after previewing them. Then you will find that D drive has been shrunk.
If you only want to shrink volume, this above can be done. And you optimize your computer further, moving the unallocated space to behind C, then merging it and C drive by virtue of the AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite Edition.(It has so many functions.)
