CHAI WAN, Hong Kong -- In a GPON network, terminals can be controlled by optical network terminal management and control interface (OMCI). Carriers allow users to install ONTs in service provisioning to lower ONT installation costs and improve efficiency. Installing ONTs by users meets the following:
l If the ONT is authenticated by password the first time, after the SN is recorded, the ONT then is authenticated by SN.
l The ONT must be installed within 72 hours after services are being applied.
In this case, how to configure the ONT registration mode?
The following command can be run in GPON mode to configure the ONT registration mode.
huawei(config)#interface gpon 0/5
huawei(config-if-gpon-0/5)#ont add

The command indicates that a user under ONT 1 is added to GPON port 0. The ONT is authenticated by password the first time and the password is 00000000000000001234 in hexadecimal notation. After the ONT goes online, it is registered by SN that is automatically recorded after the first going online. The OMCI protocol is used and the ONT service profile and line profile are used.
