So you have paid for your plane tickets, your bags are packed, but the passport you've applied for still hasn't arrived! How do you check its status? Not to worry, the process is quite simple:
Application Processing Time: You should receive your passport 6 weeks after the date of application. If you have requested an expedited processing, you should receive your passport 2 weeks after the date of application.
Checking status online: You can check the status of your application online, through the US Department of State's secure website. You will need to provide the following information:
Your last name
Your date of birth
The last 4 digits of your Social Security number
Checking status over the phone: You can request the information by calling The National Passport Application Center.
