How to make a good first impression with Thomas Junior III at J30 Ltd

It only takes a quick glance, not even 3 seconds for someone to form an opinion of you. Mr Junior will instantly be thinking whether the candidate will fit into J30 Ltd surroundings.

Thomas Junior III gives his advice on how to make a great first impression: “My nan used to say, make sure you have shiny hair and shiny shoes, because if someone likes you they’ll look up, and if they don’t, or they’re shy, they’ll look down.Appearance matters: clean nails are important when shaking someone’s hand when meeting them for the first time; you don’t want to be thinking about what they have been doing previously for their nails to get so filthy. Cleanliness is such a big deal - people are never attracted to someone who smells, has dirty teeth and looks like they slept in their clothes, rolled out of bed and got dragged through a hedge backwards. It’s sad, but we are a ‘shallow’ nation and the way someone looks is the first thing we notice. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.”

Never undersell yourself, but never lie. “It is like that episode of ‘Friends’ when Joey lies about his abilities on his CV to get more roles,” says Thomas Junior III. “When he is asked to lead a dance group, he has no idea what he is doing and ends up losing the part after wasting everyone’s time then running out of the rehearsal. Rather than wasting everyone’s time by exaggerating skill sets, be honest but don’t be overly modest. If I was presented with two very similar candidates for a position and one had written the basics of the role they had held and the other had gone into detail on how they had improved or the helped others get on with their work, I would be more likely to want to know more about that.”

Thomas Junior III’s 8 top Tips to make a good first impression:

Be on time

Be positive

Be Courteous

Dress in suitable attire that is ironed or pressed

Present yourself appropriately

Shiny Shoes

Be open and confident with a firm handshake

A winning smile

Thomas Junior III’s main advice is to be the best version of yourself, take pride inyour appearance, be honest and present yourself to the best of your ability.
