Laura creates a varied range of artworks including original art pieces, art prints and handmade crafts, often using mixed media to render them. She is always seeking out new mediums to explore for her artworks, in a unique style that she says is still developing as a work in progress". The Ohio based artist is also a published author, of children's book My Dog Jack, for which she rendered the illustrations in watercolor. Many of Laura's works are available in print art format from her print on demand web shop, Ceville Designs.
Laura's works have been described by others as: charming and lighthearted, whimsy, colorful and fun. Many of her works take on a somewhat aged, vintage look in an almost fairytale style rendering of varied subject matter including still life, animals, people and nature, sometimes combined in one. Publishing her book was a proud personal accomplishment. According to Laura, she's been creating art and writing children's stories since she was a child.
She uses mediums such as ink, pastel, chalk, acrylic paint, oil paint, water color, Stabilo pencil, micron pen, heavy gel gloss, gesso, satin varnish, handmade stamps, various papers such as scrap, tissue and wrapping paper. Laura renders on paper, cardboard and wood. Many of her works are created on flat wood panels, such as basswood, and framed with pine wood cradle frames, or on wooden eggs, such as her distinctly painted owls.
Born in Panama, Laura's father joined the US Army and as a result she lived all over the US and Germany. Laura is a proud Air Force veteran, a children's author and illustrator, success philosopher and word lover! She is currently the Vice President of The Brubaker Company, a mortgage and retirement protection company based out of Eaton, Ohio.
