Music-Critic, the online home of music reviews, has announced the winner of their 2015-2016 Debut Electronica Album Award.
"We are pleased to announce that the winner of this year's Music-Critic.com Debut Electronica Album Award is Chris Silver, for is album 'Unfinished Business'," said a Music-Critic's spokesperson. "This year had some tremendous releases in the Electronica genre, with some truly exciting ground-breaking albums from new artists. Second place was awarded to The Avener for their debut album 'The Wanderings of the Avener', with both albums being awarded a full 5 stars."
'Unfinished Business' was released late in 2015, and includes tracks such as Never Going to Win this War, Seasoned Veteran and Taiki Metered. The album dives straight into the deep end with a track called Taiki Metered, which emits a depth of sound that lives up to its name taken from the Japanese 'Taiki': great radiance. This sets the tone for the album, which won judges over with its chilled out, densely layered electronic tone and complex use of clean and distorted waves.
Contacted for a comment about his album, Chris Silver stated, "This album is just a sample of the electic electronica I have been producing over the last 17 years, and it felt good to finally get it out there. I hope that people enjoy it, and that the album leaves them wanting more. It's just a taste of what's to come."
'The Wanderings of the Avener' is the debut studio album by French deep house and electro music producer The Avener. Including tracks such as 'Fade Out Lines', 'Panama' and a reworking of the Black Keys' 'Lonely Boy' this album features laid-back instrumental house music with clear influences of jazz and soul. The album was released in France on 19 January 2015 and peaked at No. 2.
