Orlando, Florida – Results of a study that has just been published in the DARU Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences have shown that women with hypoactive sexual disorder may experience an improvement in their sexual desire through Tribulus Terrestris supplementation.
The study involved sixty-seven women with hypoactive sexual disorder, which takes place when there is lack or absence of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity. These women were randomly assigned to Tribulus Terrestris extract or placebo for four weeks, where thirty women in Tribulus Terrestris group and thirty women in the placebo group completed the study. At the end of the study, the results showed that the women in the Tribulus Terrestris group experienced a significant increase in their FSFI (Female Sexual Function Index).
The supplement is extracted from a plant from which its name is derived. Its active ingredient is protodioscin, which is a steroidal saponin believed to help regulate the levels of testosterone in the body and consequently improve libido. As such, it is commonly marketed as a libido-enhancer. Consumers are advised to choose a Tribulus Terrestris supplement with caution, though. A supplement that carries the GMP seal is more preferred by consumers because it is an indication that it has met the requirements set in GMP or Good Manufacturing Practices.
