The Czech Republic Biathlon team, sponsored by Mayzus Investment Company, won the season opening of the 2013 Ostersund Mixed Relay on 24.11.2013, in 1:17:05.6, with eight spare rounds!
The weather conditions were challenging, completely unpredictable winds were what the 26 teams faced in the competition. Intense winds cut from both left and right, and the wind was so strong that it picked up whirlwinds of snow which unfortunately further complicated the shooting.
However, The Czech team, Veronika Vitkova, Gabriela Soukalova, Zdenek Vitek and Ondrej Moravec, finished strong despite the stiff competition and bad weather conditions.
Gabriela Soukalova, of the Czech team, commented, “It was one of the most difficult starts of my life. I was not very rested. I hope it will feel better once I have more races in my legs.” Regarding any pressure on her after the success of last season, she added, “I know it will not be as easy as last year, but I am looking forward to all of the races...The win today is great motivation.”
