LEKKI, Nigeria -- A new Nigerian music distribution service MyMusic.com.ng just announced its beta launch yesterday at the Dublin Web Summit in Ireland, Europe's biggest tech event. The service presented on both web and mobile platforms is said to be expected to disrupt the entertainment and tech scenes in ways never experienced before.
The company is one of only two Nigerian companies selected from thousands around the world for their outstanding potential internationally to participate and represent sub-saharan Africa at the event.
Founding partner Tola Ogunsola said "We're very delighted to announce this launch. Our service has a unique focus on delivering a superb user experience for its users on both mobile and web platforms whilst providing multiple simplified and practical means of purchase for a mass market consumer base which includes telco billing that allows users to pay with their mobile phone credit in over 50 countries in the world including Europe, the Americas/Canada and West Africa."
Another partner Damola Taiwo said "We believe our service and payment models will help us to reach an unsophisticated user base as 75% of all Internet subscriptions in Nigeria are managed via mobile platforms, which equates to some 35 million users, as well as to the international market who previously did not have direct access to Nigerian music. Artists also have access to a back office portal to view real time sales reports of their music."
On the web platform users can dowload songs and albums, create and manage playlists and register to administer their accounts. The mobile platform is a more simplified interface that features an effortless and straightforward music discovery and download process allowing users to be able to pay with their mobile phone credit.
