Discover Paris! has been nominated in the category Literature and Writers for its e-book Black Paris Profiles (http://www.blackparisprofiles.com). A group of African-American men called “The Brothers” has created the Tannie Awards as a means of preserving the legacy of its founder, Tannie Stovall, “in a positive and elegant manner.” Stovall was a graduate of Morehouse College and the University of Minnesota with degrees in Physics (B.S., Ph.D.). He was a civil rights activist, historian, writer, investor, and film producer. A long-time Paris expatriate, he was a patron of the African-American community in Paris.

By creating the Tannie Awards, The Brothers seek to support, spur, and increase the entrepreneurial spirit in the African-American community in Paris and to give a sense of meaning and purpose to the organization’s annual Spring Gala, which will henceforth be called “The Spring Gala and Tannie Awards.”

Winners of the first series of Tannie Awards will be announced at the 3rd Annual Spring Gala and Tannie Awards on Friday, May 31st, 2013. The ceremony will be held at:
