Seven ways to improve the heat resistance of PVC plastic

1, PVC copolymer

PVC(vinyl chloride) and other monomer copolymer resin composition if there is a polar or large group of components, the copolymer thermal deformation temperature increases accordingly, heat resistance than PVC, heat resistant products.The softening temperature of PVC is 78℃, and the softening temperature of copolymer of vinyl chloride - vinylidene chloride, vinyl chloride methyl methacrylate, vinyl chloride acrylate is 100~130 ℃, 85 ℃, 140~150℃ respectively.

2, PVC chlorination

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is chlorinated by PVC resin, its chlorine content is 62%~68%.Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride can be used continuously at 100℃ (20~35℃ higher than PVC), the highest service temperature can reach 100~ 105℃.And chemical stability, flammability, cold resistance are better than PVC.But the requirement of chlorination equipment anticorrosion is strict.Resin is not easy to process and its poor impact toughness restricts its application and development.

3. PVC crosslinking

Crosslinked PVC can be made by radiation crosslinking and chemical crosslinking.Compared with ordinary PVC products, the cross-linked PVC products have high mechanical strength, good dimensional stability, good heat deformation, wear resistance, chemical resistance and other excellent properties.Radiant crosslinked wires can be used continuously at 100~110℃.

4, PVC and other polymers blend

PVC is mixed with other polymers in a certain proportion, and the properties of the blends (fully compatible) are improved compared with PVC.Because the compatibility of the two polymers after mixing, can achieve the molecular level of mutual fusion, form a single phase structure, so that the performance of the blend is supplemented and strengthened, such as PVC/PS, PVC/PE, PVC/CPVC, etc..

5. Add heat resistant modifier

Heat resistant modifier is a kind of polymer with high heat resistance which is developed and produced to improve the heat resistance of PVC.

Polyglutarimide: prepared by the reaction of polymethyl methacrylate with CH3NH4.

SMA(styrene maleic anhydride copolymer) is a good heat resistant modifier for PVC introduced by American manufacturers.

HT-510(Day) is a series of acrylic acid imine copolymer.

S700N is an α-methylstyrene-acrylonitrile copolymer.

ABS heat resistant modifier: A15, A50B, A10(Japan).

MBS type heat resistant modifier: Mitsubishi H602, 605, 632.

In addition, there are ELIX200, 300;GE Blendex 702, 703, 586, 975, etc.

6, add inorganic filler in PVC

After adding a certain amount of filler, the heat resistance of PVC can be improved.Commonly used fillers are: heavy calcium carbonate, light calcium carbonate, precipitated calcium carbonate, forged sintering pottery, barium sulfate, red mud, titanium powder, etc.

7. Add glass fiber to PVC

PVC with 20%~30% glass fiber, in the case of no (or less) plasticizer, its heat resistance can be increased to more than 100℃.Especially for long fiber reinforced PVC, the increase of thermal deformation temperature is more obvious.
