RICHMOND, Va. - Feb. 4, 2021 - The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME) recently announced they have partnered to co-host a dynamic, interactive and free virtual solar energy conference March 16, 17 and 18, the 2021 Virginia Solar Summit, to elevate the opportunities emerging for ground-mounted solar power. Along with the West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center and Appalachian Voices, DEQ and DMME will co-host this collaborative three-day solar energy extravaganza to dig into the large litany of issues presented in land-based solar power development, with feature topics highlighting incredible new potential for polluted properties and pollinator populations as solar power scales up.
The Virginia Solar Summit promises to be a deeply substantive and action-packed solar energy development event featuring world-class solar professionals, whose presentations will be shared following the event in a "knowledge binder" that will also include a variety of additional materials and resources. Each day, a fast-paced morning program will feature a variety of subjects in short, briefing-style sessions illuminating the latest developments in solar policy, practice, technology and possibility. Each afternoon, the Virginia Solar Summit's session formats open up for direct audience engagement and dialogue with many of the event's esteemed speakers.
The Virginia Solar Summit's content is appropriate for all audiences. It's program builds from foundational solar information up to the project-level details driving the most sophisticated solar development projects, such as those taking place on Superfund sites and landfills. So, everyone from the novice to even the most seasoned solar pro will discover plenty of opportunities to learn something new and exciting.
In addition to its substantial educational opportunities, the Virginia Solar Summit provides the opportunity to make connections, particular for landowners and communities with land, solar developers and solar professionals. Landowners and communities with land to develop can register a property as a potential solar project through a portal on the event website, which will be shared with solar developers and other event participants.
Meanwhile, solar developers and professionals can register to appear in the Registry of Solar Professionals, which will be distributed following the event and included in the official Virginia Solar Summit Knowledge Binder.
There is no cost to register for this free virtual event, so don't miss this opportunity to plug into Greater Virginia's burgeoning land-based solar power development boom!
