MILWAUKEE - Sept. 1, 2020 - Humble Ambitious Media is pleased to announce the release of its powerful documentary, MILWAUKEE IN PAIN available now on Milwaukeeinpain.com and coming soon to Amazon Prime. This captivating, and thought-provoking, film reveals the effects of the pandemic on the underprivileged Black community in Milwaukee, WI.
While the country has recently focused on Milwaukee for the Democratic National Convention, lamenting its primary voting issues or cheering for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA playoffs, there is a side of Milwaukee not often discussed. It is a city in pain, suffering from the effects of systemic racism and economic disparity of Black and Brown people that make up the city and are now being dealt another blow with the COVID-19 pandemic
MILWAUKEE IN PAIN delves into how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the Black community, in addition to highlighting health disparities and issues plaguing the city. The 35-minute documentary features firsthand accounts from leaders and activists, such as Bishop Darrell Hines, Sen. Lena Taylor and Gaulien "Gee" Smith, in addition to medical experts.
This film is a passion project for Milwaukee native and director, Theo Rogers.
"My inspiration came from family members that were suffering from COVID-19," says Rogers. "I had family members that passed away and I really wanted to get to the bottom of it. What I found was more in depth than I could have imagined."
