LAS VEGAS - Aug. 24, 2020 - Coldwell Banker Premier Realty is launching a new employment initiative to help Las
Vegas workers displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic start a new career in real estate. The career path begins with an exploratory information session which it is calling the Virtual Real Estate Career Workshop where interested parties can learn more about the benefits of working in real estate, how to obtain a real estate license and which tasks a licensed real estate agent performs daily. The first information session will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 4pm but the brokerage plans to host these events every eight to 12 weeks going forward.
"Most people do not grow up wanting to be a real estate agent," said Devin Reiss, vice president of sales and career development at Coldwell Banker Premier Realty. "It is usually something that happens later on down the road when someone decides they want to be in business for themselves."
Many sectors of the economy are struggling but both new and resale home sales have thus far been resilient. Extremely low mortgage interest rates, households "right-sizing" either into larger spaces more suitable for remote work or families moving from high-cost to lower cost areas has caused home purchases to increase through the pandemic. In July, Las Vegas single family home sales surpassed the July 2019 sales figure by five percent after jumping 34.6 percent over June. This surpassed the national increase of 24.7% from June to July, which was a record increase.
"There are countless benefits to working in real estate sales," said Bob Hamrick, chairman and CEO of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty. "It is a dynamic career that offers limitless income potential and the opportunity to start your own business, all while helping people achieve their personal dreams of home ownership."
According to the National Association of REALTORS®, real estate sales offer individuals the ability to earn a living while other industries are slow to re-hire and moreover, transactions have not just been bucking the trend of other business sectors, it has been booming.
